The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) is hosted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), at DTU Lyngby just north of Copenhagen. It was established in 2011 and now has over 300 staff.
By using genome-scale modelling, advanced metabolomics and metabolic engineering, researchers at CFB design and construct cell factories and bioprocesses capable of converting low-value carbon sources to high-value chemical compounds and proteins in a more sustainable, cost-effective manner than today. Fields of research include: Fields of research:
cell factory design (design-build-test-learn), metabolic engineering, genome scale modelling, synthetic biology, biochemicals, therapeutic proteins, bioprocessing, pre-pilot test and scale-up.
