The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) – now BRIGHT – is hosted by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), at DTU Lyngby just north of Copenhagen.
By using genome-scale modelling, advanced metabolomics and metabolic engineering, researchers at CFB design and construct cell factories and bioprocesses capable of converting low-value carbon sources to high-value chemical compounds and proteins in a more sustainable, cost-effective manner than today. Fields of research include: cell factory design (design-build-test-learn), metabolic engineering, genome scale modelling, synthetic biology, biochemicals, therapeutic proteins, bioprocessing, pre-pilot test and scale-up.
